Gathering #21

What a FUN get together we had for June! Everyone had a challenge piece to share. The challenge was "Do a monotangle with shading" and everyone chose a tangle, and went for it. Lots of really good work.

This time around, we had Dave, Lisa, Leslie, Lorraine, and Heidi. Josie wasn't able to be there, thanks to some serious rock hunting related sunburn. Time to rest!

We gabbed about lots of things, and learned some tricks for mastering that wonderful pattern, Skye. That is one fun tangle!

People seem to be enjoying working on toned paper, and that was our challenge for next time: do a piece on black paper.

Lorraine graciously shared her needlework for us to see.
Lorraine is an accomplished needle worker, with a variety of counted cross stitch and embroidered pieces. She brought some of her stuff to show us, and everyone was impressed. It is easy to see that Lorraine has a real passion for fibers, and fabrics...it shows in her work.

Gathering #20

We had a lovely intimate gathering with five, with Dave, Lisa, Lorraine, Josie, and Heidi. We gabbed and shared our work, and Dave supplied step outs for two cool patterns: brixbox and brandee. Two opposites, with the square angles of brixbox, and the free form flame looking effect of Brandee.

Everyone busy creating
Once again, Dave held the camera so we don't have a picture of him...next time, that will be rectified!
we always spread out, art supplies galore!

Heidi and Lorraine
Lorraine promised to bring her needlework next time, and hopefully Leslie will make it. She has been under the weather a bit.

As always, the visit was refreshing and encouraging. We talked about technique and practiced patterns.

Next time we hope to work on a challenge, and will have pieces to exhibit here!

Gathering #19

The Gathering: April Edition

As always, we had a fun time gathering to swap notes and share techniques this month. We are making plans to have a challenge, that we can work on and bring to the next gathering each time.

Tina, Heidi, Lorraine, Josie (We see you hiding, Lisa)

Someone needs to capture Dave Hunter on camera

This time around, we talked about a couple of patterns, including Go 4th and Multiply.

This is a fun pattern to fill up a page...and fast, too!

There is something so soothing about drawing a lot of circles. Maybe that's why Tipple is such a popular pattern, showing up in so many places.

Lorraine, having a giggle.

Busy creating

Lorraine showed us the notebook where she organizes her tiles and ideas.

Gathering #18

We Gathered in March

Greetings!

We had a terrific gathering this time around, with several old friends (Hi Ivory! and Heather!) and a newcomer, Tina. Lorraine is back in town from a winter in the south, and it was so nice to see her face again.

Leslie demonstrating a technique for background color
We explored color, thanks to Tina and Leslie, who showed us a simply stunning technique for creating an ethereal background for her tangles, using a Chalk Ink and sponge stamps. SO so pretty!

Everyone had a lot of interesting things to talk about and share, and the time flew by quickly, as always.

We explored a few new tangles, and talked about adding shine or glimmer to stripes and lines, got some pointers from each other, and just had a grand time!

Heather, Ivory, and JoAnn

Heather is Dave's daughter and hasn't joined us for a few months. She and Ivory were fun to have around.
