Hey everyone...
It's hard to believe there hasn't been a new post here since June! Sorry about the neglect.
We have been meeting, though our get togethers are tiny, but still lots of fun. Now and then one or another of us can't make it, and everyone misses them. But the time flies and we have good conversation and enjoy trying new tangles and such.
We made a decision with our December gathering, that during flu season, we are going to have a hiatus. Therefore, the next Intermountain Tanglers gathering will be the second Sunday of March...
That is, March 11, 2018 from 3pm-5pm at JoAnn's fabrics at 5790 So Redwood Rd. We reserve the classroom in the back...go through the fabric area, past the bolts, and there we are!
See you in March!

Gathering #32
For May, we had just a few of us. Josie was able to be there, which was wonderful! Lisa, David, and Heidi completed the set. We missed having Leslie there.
We enjoyed visiting and tangling together for the (as usual) very quickly passing couple of hours. We practiced new tangles, and shared some art pieces to look at.
Fun time!

Gathering #31
For our April Gathering, we enjoyed visiting over some fun tangles, new to us, as well as playing with some old friends.
We each brought pieces we're working on, played around with color some, and had a lovely gab fest, as always. And as always, the time went by REALLY fast. Our challenge for April had been to do something Spring-y or Easter-y but...We all forgot!
It doesn't matter. We enjoyed it immensely anyway.

Gathering # 30
Leslie and Lisa, checking SOMETHING out |
We are a comfortable group, enjoying the company and the topic together very much. Our visits are broad ranging, with some good chatter all along. This time, with the spring forward robbing us of an hour of sleep, we were all rather draggy, but we enjoyed ourselves all the same.
the challenge for our March 2017 gathering was something Irish, Celtic, St Patrick's Day...
Lisa went with a rainbow theme:
a fractal tree in colorful gel pen
even more impressive, the fractal rainbow tree on black! isn't it something!
Leslie went with Waybop, a new pattern from Rick and Marie. Looks like something a farmer might have found in a field...an ancient brooch from a clan king of the hills.
Dave was able to email a copy of one of his pieces, to include in the blog. The wonders of technology...
His take on Abundies, plus Girlande...looks like a kite! very springlike, indeed.
varnished using clear nail polish |
Heidi went with a simple shamrock, with over/under sensibilities going on..mi2 filling the "leaves" all on a background of sort of Irish looking colors.
Leslie had a couple of tiles that she had "varnished" with clear nail polish...something that Marie Thomas blogged about
Who would have thought of clear nail polish to finish a zentangle artwork? But it adds a level of depth and richness to a tile, there's no denying it.
AIN'T WE GOT FUN!
For April, we'll go with an Easter theme.
see you then!

Gathering #29
In February we enjoyed colors so much! Heidi has been practicing the tissue color transfer method, and brought lots of tiles and paper that she had colored. The striking brilliance of the colors, and how gorgeous they get as the tissue is used over again...so gorgeous!

measured and cut into tiles |
Dave brought Eddyper for us to play with, and everyone had a few pieces that we all enjoyed. Lisa, especially, had some lovely pieces with calligraphic names and quotes. Very nice!
The time sped by, and before we knew it, we were wrapping up another fun, chatty, laughing gathering.
the challenge for March will be to do something dedicated to St Patrick's Day...green? shamrock? Celtic?
Leslie's Creative Energy! |
Leslie had some glitter dust which we played with a bit.

Gathering #28
For our first get together in 2017 there were four of us. Unfortunately, Josie couldn't make it thanks to shoulder problems. Leslie was there, after a couple months off, and showed us some of her work with the newest tangles, Drawings and Icanthis. Very nice! She also had some triangle tiles to share. Everyone got a few. She figured out how to make them, and brought them along. Very VERY nice!
We talked about our new upcoming president, sort of shaking our heads and sighing. But the talk didn't get political. We all just wondered what it's going to be like for the next four years with such a wild card at the helm. And of course, we tangled. Everyone had very lovely pieces to look at and talk about, and we practiced our lines, curves, dots, and circles.
Anything is possible, one stroke at a time. Right?
Dave brought three tangles for us to practice, which we played with, along with lots of other things. It was a real good time. Lots of fun, as always.
